Predator

It is a starving animal.

It's mean angry and scary
when lean with hunger.

Purity of purpose
has sharpened its senses.

No smell or sight or sound
can hijack its attention
away from prey.

Even when hunger
burns out its insides
it's never too weak
for the thrill of a chase.

It needs to strike with ferocious deftness and
inflict pain by ripping tender flesh with dagger claws.

It needs to watch its prey's futile struggle
till it goes slack in its jaws.

More than blood it needs to taste power.

Big Bang Theory

The esoteric secret
of the birth of this universe
lies half buried in
expanding space,
exploding supernovae
or equipped labs.

It waits to be unearthed
during that vital moment
when man and woman
melt into ecstatic union.

There is an explosion of space
in a bubble of time, and
sperm and ovum,
matter and energy,
good and evil
clash, then form
delicate relationships.

One can easily betray the other.
But what holds them together?

The chain reaction that set off
aeons ago, way before
the dawn of the first day
continues in the womb of a woman,
like a bright idea explored thoroughly,
with its labyrinths of possibilities.

God didn't stop at Big Bang.

The Thursday Think Tank #59 - Grass

You have the key
to a magical world.
Just go
and find it.

It exists between
each blade of grass:
a perfect microcosm
of a perfect system.

The soil sustains grass-
the grass sustains grazers-
grazers sustain insects and germs;
and they sustain the soil.

Insects and germs:
creatures often despised
by ignorant fools
is why this world is perfect.

All that is
dead and useless
finds its relevance
here; nothing is wasted.

Ragweed

Poisonous hatred
for other forms of life
oozes suicidally
from a ragweed crop.

The Wisdom of the Japanese Ladybird Beetle

The urgency of life
is welling up inside her
but in her wisdom
she'd rather wait
another year
for another summer
than lay an egg
on an occupied leaf.

She knows that
she'd be condemning
her offsprings
to a fate of
starvation and competition
with other children
of other females
over the nutrition
of a single leaf.

So she chooses to
forgo the chance
and save her eggs
for the coming winter,
when food would be scarce
and hard to find;
the nutrition would
help her survive.

The next year
another summer
and another chance
to occupy a leaf.
So she makes
a quick move
and lays her eggs,
protecting them against
other females like her.

The purpose of her life accomplished
she curls up into winter sleep;
upside down and legs bunched close
she shrivels up on a dead leaf.

Lemmings

Leaping off cliffs is an
Exodus of foolish creatures that
Multiplied too many and gnawed
Most of their pastures barren. They're plunging
Into the treacherous waters of the
Norwegian sea, blindly hoping that it'll
Get them to newer, greener lands.
Some are lucky but they'll repeat the mistake.

The Wonders of Life

Somewhere in the
deepest depths
of the oceans
and inside the
hottest volcanoes:
infinitesimally
tiny creatures thrive;
and they've been
thriving
since aeons before
our ancestors
first set foot
upon the earth.

The pigeon: sitting serenely
on the window will, waiting for
her egg to hatch.

Amazing Grace

Do you believe in a miracle?
Yes I do.
Life is a miracle
So I do.

Life sprang, not from a fountain
but from two humble cells.
How could they contain
what it takes to make humans dwell?

How could a zygote, tiny little thing
explode suddenly
to make every thing
of a creature's body?

So do you believe in a miracle?
Yes I do.
Life is a miracle
So I do.

The Nest on My Window Sill

She flitted across the branch
to the window sill
with twings in her beak
and a motherly air;
and soon enough:
a cozy little nest,
tightly weaved,
of feathers and twigs
and an assortment of things
with a small hollow in the centre.
The mynah sat there for days.

Small blue eggs
appeared suddenly
in that hollow.
The mynah,
still a little fat,
flew in and out,
hovering protectively,
glaring suspiciouly
at the miscreants
dared to interfere with
her labour of love

A few days later...........
Tiny voices,
sqeals, maybe chirps:
some where inbetween
filled the room.
Thin delicate necks
craned for food
and pink hairless heads
peeked out to receive
the nourishment of worms
that would give them
strength in their voices and wings.

The birds flew out,
leaving but one behind.
The nest was pushed out
of the window sill.

Why doesn't life give them a second chance ?

Why do some babies die ,
even before they learn to cry ?
Why do a select few birds fall from the sky ,
when the first time they decide to spread their wings , into the open sky .
Why are there eggs that never hatch ?
Or crops that don't grow from a well prepared patch ?
Why do some flowers wilt before they bloom ?
Why by danger are all lives doomed ?
So many dreams are crushed ,
When the life from a body is flushed .
So many missions crash before they start ,
leaving behind gloom in the dreamers heart .
Why does life choose a few and not all ?
Why even before their rise , do some fall .
Fall so badly that they never rise again .
It is difficult to get the hope to rise again .
Why doesn't life
Give those seeds the chance to bloom and rise ?
Why doen't it give them a second chance ?

Satin Bower Bird

The topic of my poem is the satin bower bird .
i'm sure about it's strange mating habits you must've heard .
The male is a deep glossy blue ,
the female being of a creamy green hue .
The male is 7 - 10 cms in height
the female being just a little more slight .
Forests of Australia and New Guinea does it inhabit .
Most unusual are it's mating habits .
September and february are the months of courting ,
in the mild autum and starting of spring .
Unlike other birds the male doesn't sing ,
he instead builds a nest with attractive things .
Flowers , shells , leaves , pegs and blue plastic do it's nest taint .
Sometimes , the walls with charcoal and fruity saliva does he paint .
After the decorating is over ,
he'll stand infront of the bower .
Then if an interested female comes around
he'll prance about and make funny sounds .
If she's impressed and his fate is good ,
inside the bower , mate they would .
Then she'll fly away .
With her eggs , on the branch of some tree she'll stay .
Then for a month she'll warm her eggs
and hatch out her offsprings ,
which after a few days from her nest'll spring .
Then after a few months the cycle will begin again ,
and the female would more offsprings gain.

" When they don't mate , what do they do ? "
This question may be bugging you .
Often in groups do they flock
and the forests they dock .
In the edges of forests , along sea shores they may stay ,
and during winters , to woodlands , migrate they may .
Fruits , larve , spiders , lizards , seeds and insects make their meal delicious ,
and oh yeah , it's scientific name - Ptilonorhyncus Violaceus .

Many thanks

Always in my mind comes a thought ,
When about nature's miracles i hear or see ,
" Hasn't Mother Nature given us a lot ?
How blessed are we ! "
For what would life be ?
Without the happy chirps of birds ,
Or the unending gifts given by the tree ,
Or the perfect construction of our body's innards .
How blessed are we !

let's learn from nature around us

She may deprive her children
Of their daily nutrition
By giving her milk to the human
The cow's generosity is a god-given boon

The sturdy tree , unselfishly provides
The basic needs of most creeds
That inhabit this planet
Despite receiving an abundance of mistreatment

The honey bee's painful sting may be a dampener
But u can't deny this creature's sophistication and vigour
I does it's assigned work without a lament
It's truly a speciemen to compliment

No matter how small
The ant remains a good teacher 4 all
It's tiny yet mighty
It's disciplined life's truly a thing to study

So lets open our eyes to the wonders of nature
And observe the things we ignore
Nature has enough hidden lessons
To make humility an important word for humans .
