I'm scared of falling in love.
I'm scared of surrendering
my whole soul to the most powerful
illusion that ever fools man.
For me falling in love would be
seeing a mirage of an oasis upon
the desert of my lonely heart.
I'll trudge several painful miles
to go the distance towards this
beautiful projection of all my dreams.
I'll grow weary with each step i take,
till i find it's never been there.
Love can be scary but it can also be beautiful and fulfilling! Hope you are no longer scared, soon.
ReplyDeleteOh it's not scary...it's wonderful and then there are the painful bits but pain is part of life otherwise your life is a bland blancmange.
ReplyDeletewell not getting the "perfect" can indeed be scary to fall in love
ReplyDeleteLove can be beautiful with the right person....and I think you will know when you find them and lose that fear.
ReplyDeletelove is exquisite, titillating but hard at times but worth every pain i guess.nice poem have fun dxbnidblog
ReplyDeletesome loves are an illusion, some are real and unconditional. but i can relate to your thoughts here.
ReplyDeleteHow wonderfully expressed! And I totally agree. Something about falling rings false, as if it isn't real. And it may be, but only after time and friendship sets in. Like Jello is better after it has time to set--and I'm not a fan of raw cookie dough wither.
ReplyDeleteA fear of love is a fear of life - both not without pain and dread, but also reason enough to draw breath.
ReplyDeleteIt's not a coinidnce that it's called falling in love.. always dangerous to be falling.
ReplyDeleteit's not called falling in love without a reason.
ReplyDeletedespite the pitfalls, it can be beautiful. you may find it so one day. :)
No matter how painful it can be at times, it is a beautiful feeling. As they say, ''Better to have loved and lost than never to have loved at all", hope you find yours someday. :)
ReplyDeleteLove is true bonding and helps us to evolve as a person....
ReplyDeleteThe fear is understandable, and you make it clear in this tight write. The truth of love, however, can be delightful, as evidenced by my lifelong love affair!
ReplyDeleteBeautifully done.
ReplyDeleteto recognize illusion is wisdom -- it is a gift.
