I'm scared of falling in love.

I'm scared of surrendering
my whole soul to the most powerful
illusion that ever fools man.

For me falling in love would be
seeing a mirage of an oasis upon
the desert of my lonely heart.

I'll trudge several painful miles
to go the distance towards this
beautiful projection of all my dreams.

I'll grow weary with each step i take,
till i find it's never been there.

  7. How wonderfully expressed! And I totally agree. Something about falling rings false, as if it isn't real. And it may be, but only after time and friendship sets in. Like Jello is better after it has time to set--and I'm not a fan of raw cookie dough wither.

  8. A fear of love is a fear of life - both not without pain and dread, but also reason enough to draw breath.

  9. Falling in love can be scary because we become vulnerable to the possibility of loss and pain. There is a risk involved and relationships don't always work out. But true love can be fulfilling and it grows as we grow along with our partner. Love should not merely be a way to fill the emptiness. It should enrich us and bring added value to our lives. :)

  14. The fear is understandable, and you make it clear in this tight write. The truth of love, however, can be delightful, as evidenced by my lifelong love affair!
