Put me on a pedestal
and push me off.
Watch as i fall
through the heights,
crashing and splintering,
broken shards of my spirit scattering
to where they'll never be one again.
A sadistic smirk slants across your face
as you bask in the glory of
wrested power.
That's a pretty powerful poem.
ReplyDeleteYou keep bad company... Ditch him ;)
ReplyDeleteHow can you be so convinced that a man has inspired this poem?
Deleteugh....when it is all about power...i dont want to be in it...how often though do we put people on a pedestal only to see them fall...you know...
ReplyDelete"bask in the glory of wrested power" - powerful phrase, Madhumakhi.
ReplyDeleteSometimes power is not used in a benevolent way. It would be hard to be put on a pedestal by someone and then pushed off. I'd wonder why.
ReplyDeleteHope the speaker rejects pedestals in the future. Power be hers.
ReplyDeletepowerful poem - I have been there
ReplyDeleteAfter the pushing and the falling come all the never answered questions. Power is a game many play. Potent piece of writing.
ReplyDeleteElizabeth
Forgive the pusher and the power is yours.
