We were
standing at
the sea shore,
just the four of us,
unbroken, unsullied
by the gaze of gaunt eyes,
mouth taut with feigned sorrow,
mouth taut with feigned sorrow,
and that face: evil etched in lines.
The sea
was a reminder
that this togetherness
was just a fleeting moment,
like the rise and fall of a tide.
How sad, but I hope you made the most of the moment, that would be even sadder. Luved ur prose. Great emotion.
ReplyDeleteThat fleeting moment of togetherness was just a release. It couldn't be lived fully :(
ReplyDeletePowerful and sad, but great imagery! The last line gets me, "like the rise and fall of a wave"~
ReplyDeleteAll moments are fleeting, yet meant to be lived fully. Each and every one of them,

Your last stanza is especially powerful!
ReplyDeleteA beautifully imaged sentiment
ReplyDeleteA fleeting moment of togetherness...so sad.
ReplyDeleteLovely imagery.
aw, not what you expect. sigh.
ReplyDeleteLines etched in evil... have we all endured such a face? Well-penned. Emotional, not sappy. Nice write.

The tides of life affect us all...
ReplyDeletemadhumakhi,
ReplyDeleteA very good and moody thought, evoked by the sea itself.
